PROJECTS
MULTIMEDIA SAMPLES
I specialize in directing comprehensive strategic communications and engagement initiatives, both internally and externally. This encompasses the development and management of content for a diverse range of mediums including digital magazines, annual reports, direct mailers, strategic plans, DEI newsletters and zines, city partnership reports, community newsletters, program flyers, curriculum guides, employee brochures, marketing viewbooks, academic e-reports, crisis & safety manuals, yearbooks, and more. During production, I created all content, managed production schedules, supervised a designer to uphold branding standards, interfaced with print vendors, and maintained budget control.

I also enjoy collaborating with external videographers to write and produce captivating videos that effectively represent and further elevate an organization's mission.

WRITING SAMPLES
I have a passion for storytelling surrounding education reform and have written extensively on the many ways access to digital media shapes the way children learn in the classroom and beyond. I have also interviewed some of the most brilliant minds in education as part of an expert interview series, RIFFs.
Being a journalism major, I have received training in diverse writing styles, including feature writing, ghostwriting, op/ed writing, news reporting, press release and media release composition, book reviews, community messaging, profile pieces, script development, and grant writing (samples available upon request).

INBOUND MARKETING/ BRANDING
I have seven years of experience providing vision, direction, strategic counsel, and leadership in overall brand building, communications, and marketing campaigns for education nonprofits. This includes orchestrating impactful email marketing campaigns and overseeing social media strategies for the organizations. I focus on data and consistently generate campaign summary reports by analyzing engagement metrics like open rates and click-through rates. This approach enables institutions to effectively monitor year-over-year growth and make informed plans for the upcoming year.

Passionate about all things digital, I sought to elevate my expertise in the digital domain in 2011. This led me to obtain my certification in web design and development from Cal State Dominguez Hills, where I gained proficiency in fundamental programming languages and Adobe Creative Suite. I have experience in leading website and microsite rebranding projects and software integration projects that span from six months to a year long.

PUBLIC RELATIONS/ CRISIS MANAGEMENT
Commencing my career in nonprofit public relations, I have collaborated with journalists for a span of 15 years, securing media placements in esteemed outlets such as the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, developing national media campaigns for education organizations, and acting as a conduit to the media during a crisis.

As an official organization Spokesperson, I specialize in crisis communications dealing with Board of Directors, teachers, and minors. Having served as a member of the Safety & Risk Management Committee, I possess practical experience in the strategic planning of institutional risk management. I have professional media training via the Jane Group, a global crisis communications firm, which specializes in crisis/risk management and media navigation.

Public crises navigated include:
-
Campus lockdowns
-
School bus accidents
-
Natural disasters and school closures
-
Data breaches and cybersecurity threats
-
Community deaths and student injuries
-
